Bast – Goddess of Cats and Perfume was founded by Elizabeth Hibel and is part of the Lightworker Series.  The following is from her manual:

“Bast is the Egyptian Goddess and protector of cats, women and children. She is Goddess of sunrise. Her goddess duty changed over the years, but she was also known as a goddess of love, fertility, birth, music and dance – which was normally the duties of Hathor in the rest of Kemet.

“Name: Bast, Bastet, Ba en Aset, Pakhet, Pasch, Ubastet, Ubasti. Her name has the hieroglyph of a ‘bas’-jar with the feminine ending of ‘t’. These jars were heavy perfume jars, often filled with expensive perfumes – they were very valuable in Egypt, considering the Egyptian need (with the hot weather) of makeup, bathing, hygiene and perfume. Her nephew Nefertem, a solar god, was a god of perfumes and alchemy, which supports the theory.”

This post is a bit of a departure from what I usually write about but I couldn’t resist such a heartwarming story.

Brian Chambers, Chris Berry and Aaron Shaw are US Marines stationed in Afganistan.  They have befriended several kittens and are now working with Noward Dogs animal rescue and several cat lovers to send these beautiful animals home to the safety of their families back in America.

If you go to http://www.uniquescoop.com/2010/06/kitties-rescued-by-us-marine-soldiers.html you can see the complete article and lots of adorable photos of the kitties with their rescuers.

Thank you to Gail for publishing this information on the Messengers of Spirit group.

Felini, a beautiful, ginger farm cat, is receiving Reiki for an injured paw.  He looks so calm and happy during the entire treatment that I felt I had to share this video with you.

We have always used Reiki on our cat.  They love to be around us when we send and receive attunements too.  About five years ago, we took in a stray black and white cat we named Honey.  She stayed with us for a couple of weeks until we found her a new home.  She had a large scab on one paw and was skin and bone.  We gave her Reiki every day and she recovered very quickly.  She was an adorable cat that found her way into our hearts.  We still miss her.
